About me:
Doug launched Birdwatching Tropical Australia’s tours in January 2012 after many years of recreational birding in Australia and South Africa. Doug Herrington’s accumulated experience of 20 years birding and exploring the Wet Tropics of Queensland, Australia has given him him an intimate knowledge of the birds and wildlife of Northern Queensland.
Whilst living in South Africa, Doug was trained and certificated as a SATOUR guide. He also obtained a diploma in Nature Conservation and Wildlife Management, both of which enrich his skills and knowledge. He now conducts day tours and multi-day tours specialising in the birds of the Wet Tropics as well as extended wet season tours to the northern Cape York Peninsula.
Having garnered a deep and intimate knowledge of this region and coupled with his love of sharing what he sees and experiences with his clients, he is highly regarded as one of the finest, most knowledgeable and experienced bird guides in the area.
Doug is also an accomplished bird photographer and can cater for those who wish to photograph the birds of the Wet Tropics and Cape York. Doug’s skills at logistics and attention to detail offer you the opportunity to travel the area in comfort and security.
